Pre-operative assessment and education

Lymphoedema prevention

Lymphoedema can be prevented and if you have lymph node removal we can help you with skin care advice, exercise prescription and precautions to minimise your risk of developing lymphoedema.

Lymphoedema management

Including bandaging, garment prescription and manual lymphatic drainage. At Geelong Cancer Rehabilitation we work with you to manage limb swelling and allow you to return to your previous quality of life. Research shows that early intervention can prevent lymphoedma. At Geelong Cancer Rehabilitation we can assist you with individual exercise programmes suited to you and your lifestyle.

Treatment of cording and post-operative scar management

Physiotherapy is an important step to regaining full range of motion and reducing pain following breast surgery. Cording or axillary web syndrome prevents shoulder movement and if untreated may lead to further shoulder pathologies. At Geelong Cancer Rehabilitation we use both manual physiotherapy treatments and exercise prescription to restore full shoulder motion and decrease pain.
